How we ship improvements and where to watch for updates.
Recently shipped
November 8, 2026
- Signup confirmation and password reset emails arrive again — These emails were not being sent. If you signed up with a password and never got a confirmation, use Forgot password on the sign-in page to get a new link.
- A getting-started guide for reporting upward — The dashboard guide now walks through creating your project, connecting Jira, Azure DevOps, or Basecamp, connecting Claude, setting up workstreams, and reviewing the scorecard. Steps complete on their own as you go.
- Fewer daily summary emails when you're away — After a week without using Action Log, the daily summary only arrives when someone else changes something in your projects.
November 7, 2026
- Scorecard rows follow your workstream order — Arrange workstreams in Manage workstreams to match your board's scorecard, and the scorecard keeps that order instead of sorting by name.
- See your scorecard RAG on the project home — When the RAG you set on the scorecard differs from a workstream's computed health, the card shows both. Hover the chip for your reason.
- Transcript processing on the Free plan — Free projects can now turn meeting transcripts and notes into proposed actions. Your monthly AI credits set how many you can run, about two half-hour meetings a month on Free.
November 5, 2026
- A scorecard you can scan — Actions now show as a short title, columns have room for their text, and long cells collapse behind More.
November 4, 2026
- A daily summary you can skim — The email now opens with what needs your attention, then what other people changed, each with a short title and one sentence. Your own activity is reduced to a single line. All Action Log emails use larger text and a narrower column.
November 3, 2026
- Deferred actions come back when they are due — An action you deferred moves back to Open on its target date, with a note explaining why. Defer it again with a later date if it should stay shelved. If a linked item is still parked or done, it stays Deferred, shows under Slipping, and you get a notice to review it.
- Rename a workstream from the project home — Rename workstream on a workstream card now opens the name field and shows the new name right away.
- Choose which workstreams are on the scorecard — Mark a workstream On scorecard in Manage workstreams. The scorecard lists those rows, and you can show the rest. Projects with none marked still list every workstream. A marked row asks for an owner, next step, or date when one is missing.
November 2, 2026
- Link Basecamp items from any project — Paste a to-do or card from any Basecamp project the connection can see, and choose which project a new item goes to. If Basecamp can no longer return an item, it stays on the action as unavailable until you unlink it.
- Pre-meeting reminder emails now send — Project owners get an email two to three days before a status meeting when the project has open actions.
- Meeting view lists overdue actions — Open work past its target date now has its own list, oldest first, so it stays on the agenda after its week ends.
- AI assistants can leave out optional details — Creating an action or project, or linking an item, no longer fails when optional details are left out.
November 1, 2026
- One project status — Sidebar, project list, project home, Meeting view, and the executive brief now share On track, At risk, or Off track, with the reason beside the label.
- Slipping — An action that used to be tagged At risk is now tagged Slipping, so At risk means the whole project.
- Meeting view stays on the call — The meeting page shows the project status and this week's lists. The health score and completion figure stay on the project home.
October 31, 2026
- Link several work items to one action — An action can now link up to 20 Azure DevOps work items, Basecamp items, and Jira issues. Each one refreshes and unlinks on its own, and Table/Kanban show how many are linked.
- Scorecard colors match the workstream — A workstream that is On track stays Green. Red is for blocked work, not for target dates that have passed.
- Editing an action shows its current details — Opening Edit on an action page now fills in its status, target date, and description, and Cancel returns to the action view.
- Search by tag works again — Typing tag: in the project actions search now shows only actions with that tag.
- Staying on a page with unsaved changes — After pressing Back while editing, choosing Stay now closes the Leave page? dialog instead of opening it again.
- Change status from the actions table — Clicking an action's status badge in the table now opens the status menu and keeps you on the list.
- Selecting an image no longer freezes the editor — Clicking a pasted image or file in meeting notes, quick updates, or Add action now shows its delete option instead of locking up the page.
- Transcript meeting notes get the right date — The meeting note created when you apply a transcript is now dated the day the transcript was processed, in your time zone, instead of sometimes tomorrow.
- Since-last-meeting counts use your project's time zone — Dashboard and Reports windows now start at midnight in the project's meeting time zone, so evening updates count toward the right meeting.
October 30, 2026
- Workstream scorecard — Reports now includes a weekly scorecard you can copy or export: RAG, owner, critical path, what changed, the next step, and who is fixing it.
October 25, 2026
- Connect from Cursor cloud agents — Signing in to the Action Log MCP server from Grok and other Cursor cloud agents now completes, instead of stopping with “redirect_uri is not allowed.”
September 9, 2026
- Faster lists and action pages — The dashboard, project action list, settings pages, adding or opening an action, and Table/Kanban integration icons load only the data that screen needs, so they stay snappy even on large projects.
- Add action from project home — Create an action from the project home page, then open it immediately so you can see it was saved.
August 23, 2026
- Workstream colors — Give a workstream one of eight colors, or none, from the card menu or Manage workstreams. The color fills the card and stays readable in light and dark appearance.
- Action colors — Color-code an action from Table or Kanban so the row or card fill matches, in light and dark appearance.
August 21, 2026
- Due this week on a project — The project dashboard now lists open work dated this calendar week, with owner, status, and due date.
- Dashboard lists jump into view — Clicking Due this week, Overdue, Stuck, or Unassigned scrolls to the table instead of opening it off-screen.
August 20, 2026
- Weekly brief reads action updates — The leadership brief now uses recent action updates (owners, dates, and waits) as the source of the week, not just health scores and overdue counts.
- Workstream standing note — On Manage workstreams you can add a short description of what a programme is, so the weekly brief can group related work without restating it on every card.
August 18, 2026
- Quiet no longer means at risk — A workstream stays on track when only a few actions have gone quiet, and a strong project with a minority of overdue work shows Watch instead of At risk. The quiet and overdue items are still flagged for follow-up.
- Clickable links in notes — URLs pasted into an action, including SharePoint sharing links, now show as hyperlinks instead of plain text.
August 17, 2026
- Search overdue, at risk, and quiet — On the actions list, type overdue or quiet, or use attention:decision, attention:quiet, and the other attention: filters. The X clears the search box.
- Planned-later work stays off quiet — An action due months out is no longer marked going quiet after two silent weeks, so a scheduled item does not put the whole workstream at risk.
- Named overdue items on the brief — The leadership brief now lists overdue work in plain language and omits empty asks, so copy-and-paste to a CEO is a memo rather than a scorecard.
- Extra briefs use AI credits — The scheduled weekly executive brief stays included. Generating another one uses AI credits so on-demand refreshes are not unlimited.
August 15, 2026
- CEO-ready executive brief — The leadership brief now lives under Reports as the first tab. It leads with project health, where risk is concentrated, what changed this week, the recovery plan, and whether anything is needed from you. Copy, share, or export it for leadership; task lists stay in supporting detail.
August 14, 2026
- On-demand executive brief — After your last sweep of the week, regenerate the leadership update anytime. It still measures closed and blocked work against the last automatic weekly summary, and now covers what went well, what didn’t, and what you need help with.
August 13, 2026
- Weekly summary day — Choose which weekday the AI project pulse and executive brief generate (Friday wrap-up, Sunday for Monday morning, and so on) from Project options → Edit project → Schedule.
August 12, 2026
- Executive brief — From the project menu, open a short AI-written leadership update you can copy: where things stand, what has slipped, and whether anyone needs to engage.
August 9, 2026
- Attention signals on actions — Actions that need a decision, are at risk, waiting on others, or going quiet now show the same badges on the actions list, kanban cards, and action detail that you already see in project triage.
August 4, 2026
- Workstream-first project overview — Workstream health now sits right under the status summary so you can scan by area first. Priority chase items live in Needs intervention (collapsed to the top two by default), and workstream cards call out quiet or blocked signals on their own.
- Clearer dashboard Health tab — Scan KPIs, then Needs review now, then recent movement. Closed-this-week is a compact digest, recent activity starts at five rows, and KPI captions live in tooltips so the page stays quieter.
- Fresher project overview counts — Workstream open counts and snapshot health update within minutes after you close or change actions, instead of waiting until the next day.
- Faster action saves — Editing a single action (status, date, description, assignees, tags) no longer slows down as the project grows; only that action is loaded and saved.
July 31, 2026
- Deferred status — Shelve work without marking it Done. Deferred stays out of active triage, overdue, and completion metrics, and maps cleanly from Basecamp's "Not now" (and similar parked states in Azure DevOps and Jira).
July 28, 2026
- Longer AI assistant sessions — MCP access tokens now last 7 days, so Cursor and other desktop AI clients need re-authentication less often.
July 23, 2026
- Project status summary sticks around — Day-to-day project activity no longer blanks the one-line status summary between weekly AI refreshes.
June 27, 2026
- Delete your own action updates — Deleting an update you posted no longer fails with an error; authors (including contributors) can remove their own notes again.
- Action target date while editing — Changing an action's target date in Edit no longer snaps back to the old value when the page refreshes in the background.
- MCP workflow efficiency — AI assistants get paginated action lists by default (list_action_index, get_project_actions), compound create with workstream and dependencies in one call, and batch create/assign/update tools.
- MCP project overview tools — AI assistants can read project health in one call (get_project_overview): KPIs, AI summary, snapshot stance, and ranked Act-now priorities. Also update pulse, capture snapshots, and browse snapshot history via MCP.
June 26, 2026
- Project overview and actions split — The project landing page is now a snapshot-first overview. Open the table or Kanban from All actions or the Actions icon in the project header; attention pills on the overview jump straight to a filtered actions list.
June 18, 2026
- MCP project review tools — AI assistants can list active actions in a compact format (get_project_actions) and find integration sync mismatches in one call (get_integration_mismatches).
May 22, 2026
- Kanban drag-and-drop — Cards can be dragged between columns again. Reordering within a column is faster, and the grab cursor appears on the card body while the description link keeps a pointer cursor.
May 19, 2026
- AI assistant integration (MCP) — Cursor and other desktop AI clients can connect without a redirect error. MCP access tokens now last 24 hours before re-authentication is needed.
May 18, 2026
- Azure DevOps — Connect with a Personal Access Token — You can connect to Azure DevOps using a PAT from your profile settings. No OAuth app setup is required; choose PAT when adding a connection under Account → Integrations.
May 16, 2026
- AI assistant integration (MCP) — Connect Claude Desktop, VS Code Copilot, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible AI to Action Log with a single server URL. Your AI can list projects, search and create actions, post updates, and change statuses — authenticated via your existing login, with your project roles enforced. No tokens to copy or config files to edit beyond the URL. See the blog for setup instructions.
April 22, 2026
- Sidebar projects — Star projects on the All projects list to control which ones appear in the left navigation; new and Getting Started projects are starred automatically. Existing memberships were backfilled so your list stays the same until you un-star a project.
- Basecamp and Jira connections — Saving a connection (for example after editing the display name) no longer drops your Basecamp or Jira authorization. Changing your OAuth app still requires re-entering the client secret, then use Reconnect to sign in again.
April 21, 2026
- Meeting cadence — Set weekly, fortnightly, or custom rhythms per project (weekday, optional time, time zone). The dashboard and meeting view use "since last meeting" when cadence is set. Email can remind you a few days before the next meeting when there is open work; owners and editors may get a one-time in-app reminder (after the 24 hours following the meeting) if no transcript was completed and no meeting notes were added or updated in that 24-hour window. Reports show roughly how many meetings it would take to clear open work at your lifetime pace.
April 19, 2026
- Project reports — See overall completion rate, compare the selected range to the prior period for actions created and completed (and updates), and review per-assignee completion and overdue share. Open Reports from the project header icons beside project options; tooltips label each control.
- Meeting view — Per-project screen for status calls: health, this week's focus, stuck items, and completions since the last logged meeting (or since week start). Open it from the project header; use Copy link, Print, or Full screen as needed. Printing from the app no longer includes the left navigation bar.
April 17, 2026
- Keyboard shortcuts — Main shortcuts now use Ctrl or Command together with Alt or Option (and Shift for the in-app shortcut list) so they keep working while focus is in a text field or editor. See Help → Keyboard shortcuts.
- Project calendar subscriptions — When you mark an action done, subscribed calendars (for example Outlook) can clear the due date reliably; the feed also avoids aggressive caching so clients pick up changes sooner.
April 16, 2026
- Project deletion reliability — Permanent project deletion (from Transcript) no longer fails due to related records still referencing the project.
April 13, 2026
- Project calendar (ICS) feed — Subscribed calendars show action titles as readable text (not raw editor JSON), and due dates import as all-day events instead of midnight appointments.
- Email confirmation for new accounts — Signing up with email and password sends a confirmation link; the app shows a short reminder until you confirm, and you can resend the message from there.
April 12, 2026
- Dark mode — Choose light, dark, or match your system from the header or Profile; your choice is saved in this browser and applies to the home page, blog, Privacy Policy, and Terms — use the appearance control in those headers when you are outside the app.
- Dashboard status in dark mode — Core Status uses clearer colors for Open, Stuck, and Needs assignment so counts stay easy to tell apart.
April 11, 2026
- Dashboard getting started — In-app checklist with a "next best action" card and compact essentials; restore the guide from Help → Getting started or the app menu if you dismissed it.
- Jira and the integrations hub — Jira sits alongside Azure DevOps and Basecamp under Account → Integrations. Connect with OAuth per connection, map a Jira project to each Action Log project, and create or link issues from actions (sync, optional alerts). See Jira Cloud integration for detail.
- Toasts instead of big banners — Many success, error, and warning messages use short notifications at the top of the screen instead of large inline banners.
- Transcript and meeting-note jobs — While AI runs, you see pipeline stages (not only a single "Processing" state).
- Reactions on team notes — React with emoji on others' notes; counts stay in sync for people viewing the action.
- Smarter action AI summaries — Summaries attribute activity to the right author, read clearly in threads, and stay short (about a tweet-length rollup rather than a long narrative).
- Project AI summaries — Project overviews stay brief and substantive; they no longer append notes about which action numbers were skipped or "not relevant."
- Voice input — Dictation in chat and action editors; clearer behavior on Android. The mic is hidden in Microsoft Edge on Mac (use Chrome or Safari there).
- Notifications — Bell badge shows a capped count (e.g. 99+); preferences use a clearer table for email vs in-app per event type.
April 10, 2026
- Voice and Assistant — Dictate in chat and editors; the Assistant knows who you are for requests like assigning work to yourself.
April 8, 2026
- Removing someone from a project — They are unassigned from open actions they owned; each action records an audit note.
April 7, 2026
- Basecamp — OAuth from Account settings, centralized project Integrations, to-do or card types, richer linking from actions, clearer sync notifications, and list indicators when a to-do is linked.
- Azure DevOps — List indicators for linked work items; updates on the action when the work item changes; manual sync can notify the team when something changed.
April 6, 2026
- Action detail — Edit tags inline; assignee changes save more reliably.
Earlier highlights
- Azure DevOps — Account connections and per-project mapping for work items.
- Kanban view — Project actions by status, with drag-and-drop where supported.
- Action Assistant — In-app chat scoped to project or action context.
