Understanding AI credits
Allowances, what happens when credits run out, and typical costs.
AI credits power Assistant chat, on-demand executive briefs, meeting note conversion, transcript analysis, and similar features. Your remaining balance and plan allowance appear on AI usage and in the header when available.
Monthly allowance (typical)
Your allowance resets every month on the same UTC date and time as your account was created (not on the calendar 1st), and it follows your effective plan (including sponsored seats). Built-in defaults are: Free ~50 credits/month, Pro ~500/month, Business ~2000/month. Your signed-in AI usage page is authoritative if it differs.
When credits run out
Chat and processing stop until the balance is refreshed (for example at the next billing cycle or an admin adjustment). There is no separate in-app "top up" unless your organization provides one; contact your account owner or support@actionlog.app if you need more capacity.
Typical costs
Assistant messages are usually a small number of credits per turn. Generating an extra executive brief (beyond the included weekly brief) is typically a couple of credits. Meeting note conversion is typically moderate. Full transcript analysis is higher because it processes much more text. Always treat the usage log as the source of truth for your account.
Practical planning ranges vary by content length and model, but a short assistant exchange is usually low-cost compared with transcript analysis jobs. Use AI usage to confirm actual costs in your environment.
Monthly reset behavior is authoritative; if your plan includes special rollover or admin adjustments, that will be reflected in your account's current balance and usage records.
